BUILDING AUTONOMOUS ICE PROTECTION SOLUTIONS
SHAPING THE FUTURE OF UNMANNED AVIATION
Autonomy is key
Monitoring atmospheric conditions and detecting when icing conditions are prevalent. Applying intelligent icing detection and mitigation algorithms.
D•ICE autonomously diagnoses icing hazards and mitigates threats, without any human interaction required. This enables operators to maintain focus on achieving operational goals and thereby add value to customers.
Detecting Icing Conditions
Detecting Airframe Icing
Mitigating Airframe Icing
The worlds only autonomous ice protection solution for unmanned aircraft
D•ICE is an intelligent ice detection and mitigation solution, designed to add value by enabling operations currently impossible.
... pushing the limits of unmanned aviation
Designed in collaboration with NASA Ames, D•ICE offers a light-weight and power-efficient solution to atmospheric in-flight icing. For operators, D•ICE significantly increases operational capability and greatly reduce operational costs.
D•ICE is available as an embedded custom component in a manufacturing process
and as a retrofit solution for existing unmanned aircraft.
D•ICE CORE ELEMENTS
Strategically applied thermoelectric panels
Control unit processing data and allocating energy
Atmospheric sensor package monitoring flight conditions
Intelligent algorithms for optimised in-flight atmospheric icing protection
The D•ICE technology was initially developed for the unmanned aircraft industry, where the aircraft airframe, external sensory systems, and external propulsion surfaces (e.g. propellers and engine inlets) are all exposed to in-flight atmospheric icing.
However, the modular design architecture enables for a solution that is easily transferrable and scalable. D•ICE can be applied in a multitude of industries providing great value by ensuring safe optimal operations.
